The legislature has heard a number of bills this session relating to business. We will be discussing those bills and other issues relating to the business community. Joan Henneberry who is the Executive Director for the Colorado Department of Health Care Policy and Financing will be reviewing the new Federal Health Care Reform package including, the time-line for changes to take effect, and how the reform will impact the State of Colorado. Ginny Brown who is the Legislative Liason for the Department of Health Care Policy and Financing will also Attendance. This is an informational forum only. We will be reviewing the last quarterly budget forecast for Colorado, and the proposed state budget for July 1, 2010- June 30, 2011. When: Saturday March 13, 2010 Topic: This week's community forum will be on Health Care Issues in Colorado. We will have presentations and discussions. Mark Wallace who is the Executive Director of the Weld County Department of Public Health and Evironment; Mike Bloom the CEO of North Colorado Health Alliance; Wayne Maxwell the Executive Director of North Range Behavioral Health and Mitzi Moran the COO of Sunrise Community Health/ Monfort Family Clinic will be in attendance and speaking on the health care issues. The forum will be held in Greeley. I have been in contact with School Board Members from District 6 asking them to attend and speak at the forum. There will be plenty of time for Q and A and audience participation. _____________________________________________________________________________________________ When: Saturday February 13, 2010 Where: University of Northern Colorado University Center 20th Street and 10th Avenue Columbine B Time: 9:00-10:30 a.m. Topic: Higher Education I am holding my next community forum at the University of Northern Colorado regarding higher education Issues. Kay Norton, the President at the University of Northern Colorado and Marcy Liddell, the President from AIMS Community College will be speaking. We will be discussing topics like funding, enrollment and budget issues. There will be plenty of time for audience participation and questions. I look forward to seeing you there! Topic: K-12 Education. We will be discussing current issues involving K-12 Education and
the bills that are surrounding it. Some of the bills that will be discussed are SB
10-191 regarding evaluation systems for teachers and principals. HCR 10-1002
which would refer to the voters in the 2010 elections to authorize the legislature to
raise additional revenue for K-12 Education without prior voter approval and HB
10-1430 regarding CSAP testing. Leading authorities in the field will be present.
There will be audience participation and Q and A.
